Getting started

How do I apply as a creative?

Click Apply as Creative and complete the application. Submissions are reviewed within 24–48 hours.

How do I sign up as a client?

Click Apply as Client and complete onboarding. Once approved, your workspace unlocks and you can start booking.

Bookings

How does a booking work?

Once approved, your workspace becomes active. From your workspace, you can browse the roster, select a creative, choose dates based on live availability, and submit a Project Brief. The creative reviews your brief and decides whether to accept the project. A booking is confirmed only when the brief is accepted and payment is made in full. From that point, the creative's time is reserved, the project is active, and all work takes place inside the workspace.

Can I cancel or reschedule a booking?

Once a booking is confirmed, it is non-refundable. Rescheduling requires the creative's express agreement in the workspace. Refund eligibility in specific circumstances is governed by the Terms of Service.

What if I need more time or additional work?

Use Additional Time inside your workspace. The creative sets the required time. Pricing updates automatically. Additional work only begins once you approve and payment is made.

Payments

When is payment taken?

Payment is taken in full when the creative accepts your Project Brief.

What does Handal charge?

Handal charges a 15% platform fee, included in the total booking price. Creatives receive 100% of their quoted rate.

When are creatives paid?

Creatives are paid once deliverables are submitted and you approve the work. You have 24 hours to review.

What happens if I don't respond to delivered work?

You have 24 hours to review deliverables after they are submitted. If you do not approve the work or request revisions, then the work is automatically approved and payment is released. You are responsible for monitoring your workspace.

What currency is supported?

South African Rand (ZAR).

Issues

What if there's a problem with a booking?

Raise it inside your workspace. Handal provides the platform and record of activity. We do not act as a mediator or decide outcomes between users. Where a dispute is not resolved between the parties within 14 days, the default release rules in your Service Level Agreement apply. External resolution is through AFSA mediation or arbitration.

Can I get a refund?

If the creative fails to deliver, you may request a refund of the creative's fee portion via the original payment method. The platform fee is non-refundable. Refund eligibility in other circumstances is governed by the Terms of Service.

For creatives

Is Handal free to join?

Yes. Handal charges 0% to creatives.

Am I employed by Handal?

No. Creatives are independent contractors.

Can I work with other clients or platforms?

Yes. There is no exclusivity.
