Content Policy

1. Purpose

This Content Policy governs all content uploaded, submitted, or shared on the Handal platform.

This includes profiles and portfolio content, project briefs, messages and communications, deliverables, and any files or materials shared within the platform.

This policy applies to all users — Clients and Creatives. Use of the platform is conditional on compliance with this policy.

2. Platform Position

Handal provides infrastructure for users to create, share, and exchange content.

Handal does not create or control user content, does not review content before it is published, and does not assume responsibility for user-generated content.

Users are solely responsible for the content they upload, share, or produce.

3. Permitted Content

Content must be relevant to professional creative work, accurate and not misleading, lawfully owned or used with permission, respectful toward other users and third parties, and compliant with applicable South African law.

4. Prohibited Content

The following content is not permitted on the platform:

4.1 Unlawful Content — Content that violates South African law, including but not limited to the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 and the Cybercrimes Act 19 of 2020.

4.2 Harmful or Abusive Content — Hate speech, harassment, or threats; content intended to harm, intimidate, or abuse others; and graphic violence or disturbing material.

4.3 Discriminatory Content — Content that unfairly discriminates against any person based on protected characteristics under South African law.

4.4 Intellectual Property Violations — Content that infringes copyright, trademarks, or other rights; portfolio work not created by the user or used without permission.

4.5 Explicit or Offensive Material — Pornographic or sexually explicit content; content that is obscene or clearly inappropriate for a professional environment.

4.6 Technical Abuse — Malware, phishing links, or malicious code; attempts to disrupt, exploit, or overload the platform; automated scraping or bot activity.

4.7 Misrepresentation — False or misleading information; impersonation of individuals or companies; fabricated portfolios or credentials.

5. Portfolio Standards

Creatives must only display work they personally created or work they have the right to display.

Handal may remove content that appears to be misrepresented.

6. Project Briefs and Deliverables

Clients must not request work that would require violation of this policy or any applicable law.

Creatives must not produce or submit content that violates this policy, regardless of client instruction.

7. Personal Information (POPIA)

Users may not use personal information obtained through the platform for purposes outside the professional engagement.

All handling of personal information must comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.

8. Reporting Content

Users may report content that they believe violates this policy by contacting: support@handal.co.za

Reports should include a description of the issue and relevant details or evidence.

9. Platform Actions

Where content appears to violate this policy, Handal may remove or restrict access to the content, or suspend or restrict access to the platform.

Handal does not act as a court or adjudicator and does not determine legal liability between users.

10. Responsibility and Risk

All content is provided by users.

Handal does not guarantee the accuracy or legality of user content and does not assume responsibility for content created or shared by users.

Users engage with content and other users at their own risk.

11. Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Any disputes relating to content must be resolved between the relevant parties or through appropriate legal channels.
